The Horde

------------------------------------------------------- OOC --------------------------------------------------------------

The objective of the Warsong is as the lore dictates, we push against the Kaldorei in Ashenvale for the reason of lumber and natural resource, to expand the borders of the Horde and bring glory to its name.
This will be the basic IC reason for our advance into Ashenvale and it will fit perfectly in the upcoming lore and game changes that will be set by the next expansion.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nazrug could hear the low growls and sound of bones splintering between the jaws of the giant Worgs. Each crack echoed from out of the Worg enclosure and across the yard, they had just arrived from Northrend along with the weapon shipment that he had requested, the General had ensured that the supplies had been delivered promptly. He ran his finger over an axe blade as he made his way over to the Worg enclosure. The Axe was sharp, good, made from the finest titan steel in Northrend, the weapons were excellent quality and he had every intention to make sure they were used to their full potential.

A sudden shift of wind and he picked up the scent, a set of red eyes glowed in the dark behind the bars, watching his every movement. A low growl then followed and Nazrug noticed a long strand of Worg drool drip onto the floor. He knew how to respond to animals, he was a shaman after all, show them fear or weakness and they will tear out your throat. He drew closer to the Worg pen, the growl got deeper and more aggressive. Nazrug began to speak clearly and calmly, his eyes steadily fixed on the red glow.

“It is your instinct to fight to be the alpha, it is in your blood to challenge the head of the pack. The very reason you were born, to fight for and rule your lands.”

The Worg growled at his words as he walked closer and closer, both their eyes never leaving the lock, the stalemate they had created. Nazrug’s sharp fangs glinted in the dim torch light and his red tainted eyes burned, taking on a savage appearance. He could feel his blood boil and the adrenaline course through his veins. He knew that if the Worg wished it, it could tear through the flimsy wooden enclosure and rip him apart. But Nazrug showed no weakness, no fear, no hesitation.

“Well pup... Ashenvale is our land, and just like the Kaldorei you will learn, that I am the Alpha here!”

He leapt forward, axe in hand and brought it down hard on the enclosure made from wood and steel. The loud clang rang out across the lumber camps and the Worg whimpered, with tail between his legs, he retreated to the back of the closure. Nazrug smirked, pointing the blade of the axe at the cowering Worg.

“I will be riding to battle, on you.”

Nazrug knew that this was just the first of many encounters he would have to face as the war in Ashenvale grew closer. He also knew that the only way to get the results he wanted was to reach out and take every opportunity he could, armed with the finest weapons known to the clan and with the unshakable courage of the blades, he could not fail.

He looked out into the forest, the dark shadows of nightfall masking everything outside the range of the Warsong torches. He certainly hoped that the Kaldorei would put up a fight worthy of their name. He already had his first target, the Outrider scouts had been scouting for it for weeks.

One of the Outriders had been standing nearby the entire time, his gaze fixed straight ahead as he waited for Nazrug’s attention.

“Prepare the Worgs...” He growled.

The Outrider nodded, slung his axe over his shoulder and mounted his Worg. With a crack of his whip the Worg leapt forward and sped off in the direction of the Mor’shan base camp. He carried a message for the officers of the Outriders with the details of the attack. Nazrug’s face was stern as he turned and made his way back to Kargathia Keep.

PostSubject: Re: The Kalimdor project [ LOG ] - [A] by Pythania, [H] by Nazrug   The Kalimdor project [ LOG ] - [A] by Pythania, [H] by Nazrug EmptySat Jun 19, 2010 5:57 am

Warsong Battle report - The combined forces of the Warsong Outriders and the Warsong Blades.

Kargathia Keep - Warsong lumber camps
The main Horde presence within the Kaldorei lands. It’s back faces the Southfury river and therefore has a strategic position that lets it receive reinforcements from Orgrimmar. It is the base of operations for the officers of the Warsong Clan, and most notably, the Warsong Blades. Therefore we will be treating this as an unrealistic place for an alliance attack, much the same as Auberdine.
Overall Status: Heavily fortified due to the area being the main launching area of the Warsong forces into Ashenvale.
Recent Activity: No reports of Kaldorei presence.

Mor’shan Basecamp (The Barrens)
One of the more sizable Horde villages in the northern Barrens, Mor'shan Base Camp is located just south of the Ashenvale-Barrens border and it is the base of operations for the Warsong Outriders. It is also the location of the Horde entrance to the Gulch.
Overall Status: Moderately fortified due to the nature of it being a staging post.
Recent Activity: No reports of sightings or raids in this area, however, couriers and messengers sent between Kargathia and Mor’shan have a habit of never reaching their destination.

The Mor'shan Rampart
The make-shift defensive structure erected to keep the Kaldorei forces out of the barrens. It is raided often by Kaldorei Outrunners.
Overall Status: Poorly Defended due to the close proximity of the Mor’shan Base Camp, the defence of the ramparts is currently seen as irrelevant due to the Kaldorei currently having very little interest in the Barrens.
Recent Activity: Kaldorei sightings have been reported in the area, however no action has been taken.

Warsong Labour Camp
It is a small area containing loggers, harvesters, and orcish guards. Due to the camp's relative isolation it is a prime target for Kaldorei raids. It is this camp that Grom Hellscream established after he was sent to Ashenvale, to cut lumber, by Warchief Thrall.
Overall Status: Poorly defended, save for a few guards, the war effort is concentrated elsewhere.
Recent Activity: No reports of Kaldorei presence.

Splintertree Post
Splintertree lies just North-West of Felfire Hill, like most Horde outposts, Splintertree is mainly populated by Orcs and Tauren, all whom are primarily scouts and guards. It is ICly used as a rest area for patrolling forces in the area.
Overall Status: Moderately defended due to the proximity of Kargathia as its parent settlement, regular patrols run between the two areas.
Recent Activity: Reports of Kaldorei sightings in the area followed by a minor assault. A Warsong Blades guard force has been sent to the area.

Zoram'gar Outpost
A Horde outpost located on the Zoram Strand of Ashenvale. It is the very last attempt in gaining control over Ashenvale by the Horde without breaking the "truce". But times are changing and conflict is rising, the post is still used as a staging area for campaigns deep within Ashenvale. Zoram'gar is troll controlled, however Warsong soldiers still operate in the area.
Overall status: Poorly defended, an oupost of scouts and light infantry.
Recent Activity: Kaldorei sightings have been reported in the area, however no action has been taken.

Nightsong Woods (The Horde side of the River)
Is not a settlement, it is the largest bulk of Ashenvale forest, stretching from just east of Astranaar in the west, all the way east to Azshara. This is where most of the heavy cross-faction fighting occurs, and where the Warsong Clan and the Silverwing Sentinels have their holdings. The Falfarren River runs through the Nightsong Woods, roughly dividing it into a western Alliance-aligned part, and an eastern Horde-aligned part.
Overall Status: Very poorly defended due to the sheer size of the area, patrols and guarded convoys regulary run through the area.
Recent Activity: Kaldorei sightings are highest within the wild, many Outrider and Blades patrols have been ambushed.

((Please Note: We treat alerts in the Local Defence channel as War drums sounding from the attacked settlement. We will try to respond to any threats made to any reasonable IC attack on the above stated.))

(( Update by Kogren))

The Horde.
-----------------------------

Kogren watched the burning silverwing post with satisfaction, the flame still going strong, small embers surrounding it.

There had only been around fifteen elves in the post, though cutting down the kal'doeri numbers wasn't the goal of this mission.
The bodies of all fifteen lay inside the burning ruins of the post, though all be-headed; the heads placed into two large bags.

He knew that they where being watched by scouts, and that soon kal'dorei reinforcements would attempt to drive them back to their side of the river.

He had made sure to carry out the assault in the bright of day, in the early hours of the morning, this way the hiding skills of the kal'dorei would be hindered.

Kogren nodded at the rest of the outriders, beginning to push along three small catapults, luckily the path from the post to the village or astranaar was far flatter, and didn't contain as much trees, making moving the catapults easier.

He had sent a few outriders out on an obvious ambush position, the outriders themselves where mostly fresh meat so didn't understand it themselves, and the kal'dorei wouldn't resist such targets. He had blade rengem lead a few other darkspear scouts with him ahead of them, to take out any individual scouts that may report possible ambushes, and he knew he wouldn't fail him.

Following the first group of outriders where a few more veteran outriders, hiding in the sides, ready to attack the inevitable kal'dorei ambush against his bait.
---------------------
The plan worked well. The bait had taken heavy casualties, but to kogrens suprise they bravely stood their ground, knowing that fleeing deeper into the forest was just as dangerous as fighting a losing battle.
The veteran outriders had hit the elves hard, and they hadn't expected them at all, nearly twenty kal'dorei had lead the ambush, all on foot though, Kogren once again ordering them to be be-headed, and the corpses pilled up and burned.

Half an hour later and the catapults had managed to move up behind to lake at astranaar, the south western side. The catapults where small and hastily constructed, only being able to hurl small boulders, though that wasn't their ammunition. Kogren nodded at the outrider sergeant, and he began barking orders, emptying the large bags containing the kal'doeri heads onto the catapult.

The kal'doeri had spotted the orcs setting up, though stayed in the village, preparing for a possible assault, any stray scouts being picked off by rengem and the other darkspears.

He has lit a small line of fire in-front of the catapults, the smoke covering them, making it nearly impossible for the kal'dorei to see what was going on.

Kogren looked at the heads in the catapults, then raised a brow, turning to the orcs loading them.

"Fetch some fire oil, and cover the heads with it, then have them set alight before we fire.." Kogren grinned, nodding in satisfaction at the thought, this would strike fear into the kal'dorei, and most likely enrage them, which would lead to more careless assaults from them.

Kogren eyed the village one last time, before nodding swiftly, the catapults hurling the flaming heads into the village, some setting banners or bushes alight.

He could hear the faint noise of screams over the cheering outriders, looking back once at the village before barking orders to the outriders to head back to the post and kargathia. They would leave the catapults there, to cumbersome to allow them to be brought back with any speed.

He would need to report to Elder Nazrug that he had completed his first task. He grinned excitedly to himself, thinking about the coming victories and the inevitable conquest of the forest.
