The fall of Onyxia (The Intrepid battle) Empty
PostSubject: The fall of Onyxia (The Intrepid battle)   The fall of Onyxia (The Intrepid battle) EmptyWed Jul 15, 2009 11:13 am

It was a cold but clear evening, the Winter's Veil festivities had ended and the dwarves were just starting to sober up. A notice in the rooms where members of the Intrepid team occasionally met up to drink indicated an interest to slay a dragon by the name of Onyxia, and the call came out to the members.

Just inside the cave where the dragon lay the valiant fighters assembled, this would be the first dragon that the team has slain together, a momentous occasion if they were able to kill her- for many including Intrepid had failed before, fleeing the cave screaming for aid whilst the stench of burning flesh filled the air.

The random mottled group sat and listened as the leader Archdruid Hiddenshadow of the Exiles explained what he understood of the beast from battles past, and explained to each member of the team their roles in the ensuing fight to the death. Every raid member helped another to prepare as best they could, whether it be by sharing materials, potions the mages provided most delicious refreshments simply out of thin air. Many members of differing guilds where there; The Exiles, The Darnassus Sentinels, The Crimson Eagle, JubJub and many others including those unguilded; but all joined with a clear goal- to down that dragon in the foul cave in which she resided - in order to ensure that she could not attack Theramore in the future.

After all the explainations were given and nerves were settled with calming reassuring words, the call came from Hiddenshadow

"Fall in behind the Dead man!"

And that they did, following at a safe distance as the fearless warrior dispatched Onyxia's guards- each one more fearless than the rest, the warlocks assisting by cursing each one as they came - the priests and druids healing those caught up in the fire and swishing tails as best they could.

Finally the groups reached the entrance to the cave where Onyxia slept, heat emmenating from the room and fear visible in the eyes of many of the members of Intrepid.

Seeing this fear, and recognising it as dangerous in the face of the purple foe, Hiddenshadow re-explained how they would approach her as not to draw undue attention to themselves. The warriors were to take the blows that she gave whilst the rest of the group circled her- only when the word was given that Onyxia was giving Deadben her full attention would the damage come from the others.

Placing spells of protection and healing upon Deadben he entered the cave and charged ar Onyxia, who awoke abruptly from her sleep, screeching and breathing fire at the rude warrior who had awoken her, oblivous at this moment to the others entering the room and circling her.

As Deadben got her attention, Triksy and the other warriors began to hit her with increasing intensity, then the hunters began to fire their bows and arrows, and the rogues moved in slashing at her with their daggers. As she became more irrate intent on destroying the Warrior that awoke her, the healers focussed on casting their spells to keep him alive and the roof was lit by the sheer number of spells being cast on the big purple dragon, she realised that the pain was coming from many parts of her body, and disgusted she took to the air- unable to escape the cave, but determined to destroy those who dared to enter her lair, her safe haven.

Fire raining down on the groups assembled Onyxia called out into the cave for help, screeching almost deafening those assembled. Whelps came to her aid, attacking all who may attack her and the fire continued to rain down. There were casualties and the healing became more frantic as everyone continued to try and attack the now airborne dragon, whilst fending off the whelps and trying to keep the priests alive.

The whelps destroyed by the valiant efforts of the team Onyxia landed once more, and again Deadben began to attack her whilst the other members of the team backed off in the hope that she would forget that they were there. Once the brave warrior had re-gained control of the now flailing mad dragon, everyone attacked her with renewed ferocity.

Finally the Dragon fell to the ground, and Intrepid were victorious! They pillaged the dragon for loot and were well rewarded. They then went on their seperate ways, to join again in the future to defeat other foes that may try to plague our lands.
