Blood flowed in Duskwallow Marsh.
Blackhoof village was in chaos. Tauren were running from one tent to another. More and more shouts were heard. One of the Elders of the Grimtotems of Blackhoof Village, who had been absent, strode through the crowd.
“What is going on?” He demanded in a loud voice.
The crowd parted and allowed him to see the dead bodies in the main tent. Horrified, he almost ran in. The wounds on the tauren were definitely caused by daggers. An assassination? He thought. He shook his head and walked out of the tent, heading towards the outskirts of the village. There was a lot of commotion there. Every tauren present fell silent when he approached.
“Well?” he demanded once again.
“The guards patrolling these outskirts were found dead and some are missing. We sent scouts along the road to take a look”, said the spirit-shifter.
Not a minute passed before the scouts returned.
“We found them. They must have chased after the humans that attacked. We found where the fighting took place, littered with both tauren and human bodies”, one of the scouts reported.
“Humans?” asked the Elder.
“Yes”, replied the spirit-shifter before the scout could,
“We have found many human bodies near our dead. They all wore the same uniforms... the golden lion on a field of blue. The mark of the human Kingdom Stormwind. The cages in which we hold the prisoners from Theramore are damaged. The marks make me think that someone tried to free them, but none managed to get out. Theramore must have called for aid."“Damn it,” cursed the Elder under his breath as he walked away,
“We have fought Theramore before, but the village is not prepared for attacks from Stormwind.... I must pass this on...”Not an hour later, the spirit-shifter, along with three other tauren, arrived at site of Direhorn Post's reconstruction. The scene was horrific. Dead grimtotem lay abundant, some of them still impaled by the longswords and cavalry sabres that caused their deaths. The earth was wet with blood, and marked by... hoof prints? Hoof prints, but different from those of a tauren. They looked more like those of horses.
Wherever one looked, a corpse would enter sight. There were many corpses but they could be easily distinguished into two groups.
“Damn it!” the spirit-shifter shouted,
“Stormwind has struck here too. So the attack on our village was just a diversion! One, two, three..... at least eleven Stormwind corpses... they must have outnumbered us by far to have won here. This is an outrage.... the Earthmother's children slain on Kalimdor's soil by... outlanders! They pink skins must pay!”The eyes of the assembled Grimtotem lit up with fury. If the militants of Stormwinded wanted slaughter, it would find them!
