The pre-RL MEET meet i.e. Friday 27th evening/night

Yes, that's right, we are trying to arrange a meet up for those of us that either can't make the Saturday (me) or who are in town early and want to meet up then.
Happy to meet anywhere in London as the underground covers almost everywhere, so anyone want to make a suggestion as to where to go?

It would be great to meet up for food somewhere i think. personally i'm good for Thai/ chinese, italian or good old fashioned pub grub.

I'm hoping Opa will come up with some good suggestions

Generic:

Near a station.

Covent Garden.
London Bridge
Waterloo
Victoria
etc

Specific:

Brixton (edgy cool, end of Victoria Line zone 2)
East End (Aldgate East, edgy cool, zone 2)
Spitalfields (near Liverpool St, cool, bit expensive, near East End and near the City, zone 1/2)

I'll talk to some London friends and edit this.

Best idea would be to meet at a station at a specific place there (all meet at the Millies Cookies stand in London Bridge, for example) and go from there. The actual place of eating/drinking doesn't have to be that close to meet up spot as transport is pretty easy to anywhere.
So if we say meeting at 6pm, where's best for us to meet?

As to time, I'd need to be back at London Bridge station for some time between 11:30pm and midnight to get the last train, but I'm guessing people wouldn't want to stay up that late anyway.

Bear in mind 6pm on a Friday evening is the height of rush hour.

No it's not, that's the end. Most people leave between 4 and 5 pm! Plus, because of the early start it's a lot less than the rest of the week.

Last I knew, there was chat (in Chatbox) about sorting out a place to meet. Lacking the internet means I don't know if any more has been decided on that score, anyone able to fill me in?

Ok, we really do need to nail down who's meeting up this Friday, when and where.

I've suggested 6pm, which should be a lot easier than suggested as it will be quieter than the same time Monday to Thursday (so easier to find a space to wait) and it still leaves a decent amount of time to eat, drink and be merry!

As to a place of meeting, I would make the serious suggestion of the foyer area of London Bridge Station, where they have eateries, an M&S and WH Smith (as well as the Millies Cookies stall!) so there are plenty of places that can be waited in.
To get to London Bridge Station, you either need to get on the Northern Line (City Branch) southbound or Jubilee Line eastbound. Use a map if you don't know how to get on to them.

Andnow we need to know who's wanting to do this:
Me (obviously)
Vypra and Ryanka (iirc)
Vex?
Oppy (if he can get permission from "'er indoors")
Mori (again, iirc)

Are there any others wanting to meet on the Friday?
Does the time and the place work for people?
Need the info by Thursday afternoon at the latest as that's the last guaranteed time I have internet access this week (unless Tiscali sort their lives out!)

I'm just waiting on a call from Megeara to see if I have a place to stay. For familial reasons, I don't think I can do both nights out (Friday and Saturday), so I have to choose between.

London Bridge is an ok place to meet, as is any train station. However it's not that an exciting location by itself, except for proximity to the river and a couple of wine bars. I guess there's St Katherine's Dock (I think) on the water, has a couple of big bars. Nearby is HMS Belfast, the London Dungeon and the building which houses the Greater London Assembly (GLA) and the Mayor (Boris Johnson).

For more 'hopping' night spots I suggest possibly east London ... I've just had a thought: myself and Megeara (Steve) often used to meet our roleplaying mates in a pub called the Roundtable, which is very close to Leicester Square.

What's the time and place for the next night? Is it 7.30pm in Camden? Steve (Megeara) favours travelling to that one, in which case I would come along on Saturday and not Friday.

I suppose it depends what you want: somewhere to talk, somewhere to party, somewhere to eat, hassle free walking or lots of crowds, etc.

Seems most likely however that me and Steve will do the Saturday, despite my lack of enthusiasm for noisy expensive places with weak over-priced beer ... (seems a lot of effort to travel far and then not be able to hear...)

London has loads of cool pubs however, so it won't be too hard to find another. I suspect Friday evening will be easier to talk actually.

thing is Oppy.... that place was set already (and it might be rather short notice to change that then).

No idea what time people will arrive there then, else it might always be possible to move to somewhere "better" when we are there.

No, of course, I understand that. I guess with so many people it makes sense for somewhere 'easy'. Another option is to meet me and Steve (on Saturday) before the actual pub. I'll check with him.
