You can see my latest piece on MMO's up at the BBC's Technology site. It's been a bit edited (there was a lot more introduction in the original) but it's essentially an interview with three WoW players who've used WoW to stay in touch with their family/loved ones:

Marcus Miller? I've heard of him, from my father, who listens to his music. Very Happy
So he met his current girlfriend in WoW? Funny.

Good article. WoW is a great social platform. A few weeks ago, the raiding guild Ferus (which I'm in on my warlock) had a party in my hometown where 25-30 people came from across Europe to BBQ and have fun. It was a great weekened where I could finally meet the people I have been raiding with online.

Really interesting article, I have to say it does sound somehow strange in my ears but it seems to work out for some people! Well done Nick Wink

Aw, the Lovers story was such a romantic one, and I saw it all happen too! I knew both of them before they knew eachother, they were among the very first aqaintances I had in this game. Good people. Aw..

Good read. Loved the whole story around the Haven chappy with the communication through his brothers. Made it sound like the parents gather around his brothers while they play and plague them with questions as they are playing!

Holy Shit!!!

I initally learned my first scales listening to Marcus Miller's early records, i used to run that stuff back and forth while still looking for the tones on the fretboard!

Who'd known he plays WoW too!
Maybe i can boost him somewhere as thanks! =DDD

And awesome work Nick, specially the portuguese business man part... makes me believe not all of us frown on such "demonic, teenager-corrupter" things as videogames!

Its soooo wierd reading that and realising that its someone you know mentioning people I got to know and visit muchly Very Happy.

Meeting people in wow is interesting.

You find (if you've played with them enough), that you actually know an awful lot about the person, and what makes them tick (often in more ways than one especially in something like a raiding guild where you spend a lot of time together) and though the first 15 min or so when you meet you're putting a face to a voice and personality its a little odd- once thats over its just like a friend you've had for life.

Why do they ALWAYS use a picture of fag allies whenever these articles are published.

I DEMAND JUSTICE!
HORD VICTOR!

Well, the last picture is a blood elf, which is technically Horde... though I never considered them as real Horde, if you know what I mean...

Well, strictly speaking I can only count 3 for you as the original gnome was around before Emanee existed.

All I know about are Validus, other chappy that was around at the time that CC split (and who Val was apparently jealous of) and your current beau.

The one you thought was related to the CC split actually was before Vali and wasnt related to the CC split.

CC split time I was pretty determined to be single forever... mmmhmmmm that lasted Wink
