| Here's a quick run down of how the event went...
Firstly, Vypra led the shaman present in meditation where she attuned herself fully to the fire spirit:
Spirits o' Flame Glowin' brigh' Light ya fire in me Let ya heat fill ma soul an' ya passion shine in all dat i do by ya will, it be so.
(The others said their own words of course )
Once we had all who a few more ppl present, Vypra said the words of the ritual:
Ya live in da embers o' our campfires an' da braziers o' our temples
Ya shoot from da clouds o' da storm as light'nin'
Witout ya we woul' wit'er an' die
Spirits o' Fire, we give ya our offerin's an' ask fo' ya blessin'
Lend us ya strength an' passion dat we meet all challenges wit ya flame burnin' strong in our hearts
She then made her offering with the following words:
Great Spirit o' Fire I make dis offerin' in ya honour
and asked others do make their own offerings. Loko kindly recited the following:
(The myth of the Spider and the Fire)
In da oldah days tha worl be dark an cold tha people beh dyin an shiverin an cold
So all da people an than creatures gather togetha Dey each chose one o dey numbah to seek for help
Wun bah wun day come bak empty handed But spidah nay come back ... Evertin tink spidah beh squashed an dead
Bah Bird people leave tha gatherin place, sayin no help comin Dah insect people follow dem Say tae come back but dah Birds don't
Den dey repitles leave But spidah no died, no squished Spidah make webs from nort' to sout ... East to wes ... and he climb his web high So high ... untill he finds a huge ball o flame
So Spidah make a great net an catch da flame and drag it back to 'er web bits odah ball shake free an spread across da sky But SPidah bring back da flame And tye it down to er web
But fire spoke to er ...
Dis close to da people, I will burn dem all Take a little of my fire to your friends ... I will show you how to use it
Spidah agreed and the Fire balanced a tiny flame on er back whit she took bak to da gatherin place She showed da people the secret o tha flame
The full version i wrote (adapted from a spider goddess myth to give it a WoW flavour) can be found Here
Next Haradar perform a chant as an offering:
Haradar kneels before Durotar Flame Keeper. Haradar places his hands on the earth, digging into it with his fingers. Haradar stands, casting the red clay dust into the air.
(chant) As the burning sun gazes down..
Haradar closes his eyes.
Haradar says: (chant) As the water turns to steam and rises to the sky...
Haradar kneels down.
(chant) And as Draenor quakes from the ground torn assunder...
(chant) Your gaze brings life, your anger brings death... your presence brings comfort, your caress brings pain.
Haradar roars with bestial vigor. So fierce!
(chant) Our victories come only at your sufference, and our lives are lived in rhythm with your pulse.
(chant) Your are fire, and you are my blood, my fury, my passions and my loves. I offer my devotions to you, and ask that continue to burn with all your glory and your might.
Haradar roars with bestial vigor. So fierce! Haradar kneels down.
Zul'Ros made his offering with chanting and dancing which several people joined in and Ravajin made an offering of Rum and tobacco to Ougon the fire Loa.
The evening finished with a round of honey mead and some dancing.
Thanks once again to everybody that turned up. I really enjoyed the event and i had to laugh at the silly dwarf who pushed his luck too far and got blasted by by flameshock/ lavaburst combo after putting out the fire for the 3rd time! some ppl really should learn when to quit
